Questions, answered
What does The Nest work out for me?
Your Nest Egg: the amount to save before baby arrives, based on your income, expected leave pay, current savings, how long you want off, and how much of your normal income you'd like to maintain. It then turns that into a monthly savings plan.
Does it tell me how much maternity pay I'm entitled to?
No. You enter the figures that apply to you from your employer and government or statutory scheme. That means the tool can work across different countries and employment setups.
Can I use it if I'm self-employed?
Yes. You can enter the income you realistically expect to receive during leave and build your plan around that.
Can I use it with my partner?
Yes. You can factor in shared savings, partner contributions and other expected income. Once your plan is ready you can also invite your partner to view and edit it with you.
What if I don't know exactly when I'm having a baby yet?
That's fine. You can use an estimated leave date and update it later.
Can I change my numbers after I've calculated everything?
Yes. Your plan can be updated as your savings, leave date or employer pay changes.
What currencies can I use?
GBP, NZD, AUD, USD and EUR at launch. There are no currency conversions, currency is purely a display and planning choice.
Does it include a baby budget too?
Yes. You can track expected baby purchases separately, from the pram to the nursery, and choose whether to include the ones you still need to buy in your overall savings target.
Is this financial advice?
No. It's an educational planning tool designed to help you organise your own numbers and understand your potential savings gap.
Do I need to be pregnant already?
No. It's actually useful before pregnancy too, especially if you want to understand what you may need to save in advance.
Is this a subscription?
No. It's a one time payment for lifetime access to the tool.
Will my information be saved?
Yes. Your plan is saved to your account so you can come back to it whenever you like, and it is private to your account. You can invite your partner to share it, and nobody else can see it.
